Church History

The Founding and Growth of True Vision Baptist Church

On Saturday, March 31, 2012, Rev. Lionel and Sister Tammie Aaron held a church vision meeting to share the divine inspiration that God had placed in the heart of Rev. Aaron. This inspiration was to plant a church in Northwest Houston, Harris County, Texas.

A list of 26 family members, friends, and acquaintances was compiled, and invitations to the vision meeting were sent out. Approximately 12 potential founders attended as Rev. Aaron shared the vision for True Vision Baptist Church. Those present were encouraged to pray about whether they would become part of this new church.

On Saturday, April 7, 2012, at 1:00 PM, an official meeting of record was held for all potential founding members at the home of Rev. Lionel and Tammie Aaron. The following individuals formally voted to establish True Vision Baptist Church:

  • Rev. Lionel Aaron
  • Sister Tammie Aaron
  • Brother Goree Anderson
  • Brother Robert L. Thomas Jr.
  • Sister Tracey Richardson (in absence)

At 1:50 PM, on a motion by Brother Anderson and seconded by Brother Thomas, True Vision Baptist Church was officially established. At this meeting, Rev. Lionel Aaron was also voted in as pastor. His first duty was to appoint a Board of Directors consisting of Brother Goree Anderson, Brother Robert L. Thomas Jr., and Sister Tammie Aaron, who also served as the Historian of Record. The meeting concluded with a proposal to search for a location to hold church services, with the first service scheduled for Sunday, May 6, 2012. The Church Constitution and By-Laws were later proposed and adopted.

On Thursday, April 12, 2012, True Vision held its first Bible Study in the home of Pastor and Sister Aaron.

On Saturday, May 5, 2012, Rev. Lionel Aaron was ordained and installed by Rev. Allen O. Aaron, Pastor of Family Fellowship Missionary Baptist Church in Houston, Texas.

On Sunday, May 6, 2012, True Vision held its first church service at the Huntington Park Recreation Center, located at 4444 Victory in Houston, Texas.

As the church grew, key milestones included:

  • Sunday, July 1, 2012 – True Vision doubled in size as Pastor Aaron baptized five new members.
  • Sunday, October 28, 2012 – The church held its first Men’s Day Program.
  • Sunday, December 9, 2012 – The first Women’s Day Program took place, alongside the celebration of Pastor Aaron’s 11th anniversary as a minister of the Gospel.
  • Sunday, December 23, 2012 – The church celebrated its first annual Christmas Service.
  • Tuesday, July 5, 2016 – True Vision launched its Weekly Prayer Meeting via conference call, a ministry that remains active today.
  • Sunday, October 15, 2017 – The first annual White Cane Day was observed, recognizing Christians who are visually impaired and blind. This initiative led to the development of a Bible Read-Along and Bible Study ministry via conference call for visually impaired members.
  • January 2018 – True Vision purchased its first property at the corner of West Tidwell & Beale Street.
  • March 2019 – The Intercessory Prayer ministry was introduced via conference call.
  • October 2021 – The John 9:3 Ministry was officially established in support of visually impaired brothers and sisters.

Over the past 12 years, God has been exceedingly good to True Vision Baptist Church. Today, True Vision stands as a debt-free, financially sound, and spiritually growing church. While many visitors and members have come and gone, God’s blessings and favor have remained constant.

Therefore, we, the True Vision Baptist Church Family, give thanks to God for His blessings, His sustenance, and His guidance. It is our continuous prayer that God will use True Vision Baptist Church mightily for His Kingdom.
